James M. Curry is a graduate research assistant at CAPC. After graduating from The State University of New York, College at Brockport with a Bachelor of Science in Political Science in 2006, James began work on his Ph.D. in Government and Politics at the University of Maryland. Joining CAPC in the Fall of 2007, he has assisted Professor Herrnson in various research projects and in the day to day operation of the center. James? political experiences include acting as President of the SUNY Brockport College Democrats and interning in the offices of Senator Richard J. Durbin (D-IL) and the U.S. House Appropriations Subcommittee on Financial Services and General Government.
James' academic interests include the U.S. Congress and congressional elections. He has co-authored a chapter on the 2006 congressional elections with Paul Herrnson to appear in the 9th edition of Congress Reconsidered (ed. Lawrence C. Dodd and Bruce I. Oppenheimer), and an entry on politics in the state of Maryland for the Political Encyclopedia of U.S. States and Regions.
